It is a very good question and one that I would like to explain. Here it is. I don't want people to go through what I went through with having diabetes for twenty years. In addition to my diabetic problems, I witnessed my mother die from the disease. I didn't want to go through the agony of pancreatic cancer. So I decided to get fit and create events that help people, especially families, exercise and have fun. I noticed that in terms of events they are very few that center around diabetes. The American Diabetes Association has fundraising activities such as the Tour de Cure. Therefore, can the the Tour de Cure solve problems associated with diabetes? It's a start, but its not the total solution. The Tour de Cure is an awareness of the disease. The solution is you.
I use Destination Training as a platform to create healthy life style events. The company logo has a symbolic representation of what it takes to be proactive with your life. This logo shows a person that is going up a mountain with a book in their hand. The text represents a destiny that involves training. Everyone knows that training involves knowledge and the execution of that content knowledge through practice. We all know that practice makes perfect. Does it? If you keep practicing the wrong technique, it won't help you obtain your objective. That's why the little guy is carrying the book. Being a continual learner along with the correct method of training (practice), enables the little guy to get up the hill.
Where do you start? Some people go to the gym and work out, and others participate in events that center around outdoor activities which involve running, cycling, and complex sports such as triathlons. They exercise, and basically have fun at outdoor activities that involve their favorites groups. I have chosen to skip the gym and create a system that encourages me to stay healthy so I can circumvent the genetics of diabetes, and make my environment conducive to being proactive with my health.
In order to be successful, you need to hang with people that have the same goals an ambitions that you have. Creating a healthy lifestyle event not only promotes it; I get to live it.
