Google plus is here, and it is ready to wow you into a frenzy of applications that are bound to take up more of your time. Well, you can be the judge. Odijoo LMS

Odijoo is a unique LMS program that makes it easy to create your online courses. Odijoo gives you access to the following options:
  • Create Online Courses
  • Publish Online Courses
  • Share Online Courses
  • Sell Online Courses
  • Syndicate Online Courses
  • Create elearning Campuses Online
I haven't found an LMS program that allows a member to syndicate or create a corporate campus. Syndicating a course allows the developer to create, host, and publish an online course for free. A member can host the course in Odijoo's market place, charge any fee price, and receive 90% of the fee, and 10% goes to Odijoo.
Odijoo's campus allows you to create a branded, customized private campus, with your own domain name, that presents your companies unique presentation. You can open your campus to any Odijoo member and sell seats to your course. You can invite your students, clients, or employees to your campus  and allow them to enroll in any training course that is listed.

New LMS

Litmos is an interesting LMS that is geared towards the corporate world. It has some unique gadgets that would be of particular use for companies that want to develop training programs for professional development. The tracking system and the user friendly screens make it very easy to develop a training program that will generate reports with specific information for the team leader. It also has a neat function that will generate certificates that show completion date, title of the course, and other bells and whistles that would reinforce a positive assessment for the employees.
There is another section that would allow training developers the opportunity to sell their courses online. Litmos is equipped with an ecommerce section, that facilitates course enrollment, confirmation of charged fees, and a complete report system that keeps track of your registered student’s course completion.
Litmos is not free. So make sure this program will be cost effective.

Publishing your online course

The software market for publishing online courses looks like 160 acre flea market. There are more products to choose from then ever before. So how do you select the best product for your course?
First, you will have to decide your target audience. A large university will need an LMS that can handle a large staff along with the student population. In this situation a tech department will be needed in order to supply the support for all the issues that occur within the system. The cost of these programs will depend on the number of courses and the anticipated student population.
For smaller groups that want to produce professional support, k-12 courses, or sell online courses, I would suggest Brain Honey (brainhoney.com). This is a great system for those that have a difficult time adjusting to complex software. I call it the “myopic no tech syndrome”.  There is a free registration that is geared towards teachers that want to blend their courses, and a fee base registration that is set up for large school systems. You will have to decide which one will work for you.
Brain Honey is easy to use, set up and implement for any course that you want to create. I use brain honey for the course I developed for Georgia Department of Education. This course is located on the GDOE website and has a fee for taking the course. After the students register for the course, I go to Brain Honey and add them to the roll, give them the log on information and they are ready to start the course.

Making money with online courses

Create an online course-then-SELL IT

Can’t keep up with the educational companies that are gobbling up other companies? Tired of applying for teaching positions that have over one thousand applicants? Let not your heart be troubled. There is another way.
Develop an online course and sell it as a continuing education course at a school districts web site. There are many school districts that offer continuing education courses that have been developed by other individuals or companies. You can charge a reasonable fee and offer it at a specific time or have continuous enrollment. The course has to fall within the districts guide lines. The school district will add your course to their sight after you receive approval.
Most states have the district web sites listed with information on how to submit a course. Large online educational companies have taken the initiative to produce courses online. The subject matter is very diverse on these web sites. Colleges and k-12 schools don’t want to pay instructors to create these courses. They provide a catalogue of courses for teachers that are looking to receive certification and PLU’s. The link located below will list the requirements for the Georgia Department of Education.

Creating an Online Course

HOW TO CREATE AN ONLINE TEACHING COURSE

Many teacher’s have a difficult time of transforming their teaching style form the classroom to virtual, and fail to realize that audio and video plays an important role for online courses. There are some key questions that you should ask yourself before you start the course.
• What is the difference between asynchronous and synchronous?
• Am I familiar with the learning management systems that are available?
• Which LMS do I use?
• What is the first step for writing and publishing my courses?
The syllabus is the first similarity between online and classroom courses. Make sure you have the expertise to create a syllabus that doesn’t leave any guess work as to what the student should know about your course. Next, you will need to focus on the parts of the course such as lecture, audio, video, assignments, tests, quizzes, discussions, and communicating between you and the student.

REMEMBER
YOU ARE NOT IN FRONT OF THE STUDENTS
The iNACOL is the international association for K-12 online learning has written many papers on specific subjects related to online education. The following link will assist you with the process of starting an online course or program.
